Gear Knob/Shifter weight R380

Hi all,
I have a gear knob machined out of solid brass, more or less exactly the same size as the standard r380 knob but a good deal heavier. Will the weight be an issue on the gears? I don’t want to wear the gears and i know some say this and that about resting your hand on it when in gear

The simple answer is it will not wear out your gears. Many aftermarket gear knobs made out of either alloy or steel are a lot heavier than the original plastic and these metal gear knobs have been available for a long time without any issues. That’s reassuring to hear. Thanks for reply. Now to dig out 1/2 inch taps and get it fitted.
