That would be cool, looking at changing the transfer box gearing in mine but six speed would be good. Sometimes you have to get lost to find yourself

I have already asked that one, the bell housing is miles out Big Cry so you would have to use the TDV6 box this would then cause an issue with the transfer box Big Cry And then the front out put shaft on the defender transfer box is off centre where as the TDV6 runs central to the vehicle, So you can use the TDV6 boxes. Well without a lot of expensive mods.

I think they developed a new bellhousing to mate the Puma engine to the ZF auto box, perhaps this same bellhousing may work with the 6 speed box. Alternativly with enough demand Dave may develop a new bell housing and sell it as a package with the box, especially with GKN overdrives being in short demand.

Rich

Are you there Ashcroft, any thoughts Dave?

Andrew you thinking of scrapping the Puma engine and replacing it with a TD5 !!!

Have been considering this myself , you could then get Pete to work his magic on the TD5 and with 6 speed box , what a defender that would be Smile

Well it would be a Defender with a smart dash, sound proofed, steel doors and it would have a crisp economic engine that was designed to be used in a 4x4 vehicle. Unlike the Puma (parts bin engine) thats been adapted (unsuccessfully IMO) to be used in a 4x4 vehicle.

I did, Land Rover Did, many utilities did Exclamation

Every TD5 i owned was shocking - a view shared by a few.

The Puma engine is a very good engine off road - better dash, better heating, seats, transmission

Although i suppose people will start to think of the TD5 in the same loving way as the did the 300 and 200 before them Mike
