I'm very impressed with the AEB it did save me from hitting a young lad on an electric scooter who came flying through 2 parked cars when I was reversing out, I didn't see him but luckily the car did and it stopped. It’s rubbish - occasionally picks up parked cars and tries to put the brake on, and the ‘emergency lane keep assist’ regularly tries to steer me away from the edge of the road. These safety systems are menace and are more like to cause an accident than prevent one.

Some of those crash tests would bring tears to your eyes in a classic Defender!

Statistically that’s definitely untrue… It’s only done an emergency stop on me once, and I have to say I’ve never felt a car stop that quickly in my life - remarkable! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I do agree that this is a right pain as you have to turn it off every time you start the car in the Pivi Pro, and is terrible for snow/slush roads. However the emergency braking has saved my bacon at least twice with pedestrians who were tracking in my A pillar blind spot as I was turning. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

The lane assist is a pain in the Jimny, same reasons as above, fortunately it can be permanently disabled by pressing a button on the dash, although it leaves a warning light on to advise that it's turned off.

Not for my usage it is not. Several times it has steered me away from the edge of the road toward oncoming traffic, which was the reason for me being so far over. I’m driving the car, I should be the one deciding where it’s positioned in the road. ‘Lane keep assist’ can be turned off, in fact I’ve never turned it on, but while ‘emergency Lane keep assist’ and the auto-braking nonsense features can be turned off in the pivi pro menu, they re-enable themselves every time the ignition is cycled. Hopefully someone will figure out a way of permanently disabling them. |

The AEB stuff does look good, I can't think how grateful you would be if it stopped you knocking over a young child running out in front of you.
Does it also mean a policeman can be confident to step out and stop you though? I'm thinking of all those films where getaway drivers drive at people who have to dive out the way? |
