A friend is always working and always skint, as his idle missus (she really, really is... doesn’t work, that includes not doing house work) and HER daughter has 2 horses...
He’s depressed due to skint and working 7 days a week.. Bought her a disco 3 for horse box towing, which is disgustingly filthy and now broke (can”t afford to fix it) I told him he needs to get rid of the horses, which he said ‘they would prefer to see me go, than the horses’.. I told him to ‘take the hint’ |

Skiing, obviously you need different skis for different snow conditions and types of skiing; cycling, obviously you need different bikes for different road conditions and types of cycling. Cooking, every day hobby. Travel, Mrs Grenadier likes to stay in niiice hotels and eat in good restaurants, and we always (in normal times) do at least one ‘big’ trip to NZ, Far East etc a year. Motorbike. And this year we’ve burned a bundle of cash finishing off the garden landscaping (bloody expensive in France) and the renovation of our farmhouse.
And thank you all for some good memories of the 80’s. Saisho and Matsui, had some of both. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Some familiar stories here! Good to hear that many others indulge to the excess, and are happy to admit it.
Boats have been my long term indulgence. Always something needs fixing or improving on. Water, whether from below, above or condensation, always finds way to get into where it shouldn´t. Bit like a Defender, really! B.O.A.T. I don't know much about boats but I once heard sailing described as akin to standing under a cold shower whilst tearing up £50 notes Darren

something like that.
Actually the problem with boats is that, it is easy to believe that the bigger it is, the better it will get. Every boater, who actually ventures out and explores beyond the safety of the Ouse or the Avon, will eventually return from a trip with the timeless saying "your´re gonna need a bigger boat!" like Roy Schneider´s character, Brody in Jaws. Typically, a bigger boat follows, and it impresses with how much better it deals with waves, weather and guests needs. Until it doesn´t. There is always a situation or a wave that is bigger. The maintainance issues explode exponentially. Keeping it clean and "ship shape", even more so. To a certain extent, high horsepower cars, big houses and definitely horses, follow a similar pattern, but with less salt. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTs, Recaro CSs, anorak, wellingtons |

Lady Haggis does work thankfully, although the hints about not do get dropped once in a while. I do use the horses as well as we both play polo on them, which is another great drainer of money, but it replaced skiing and fast cars for me, thankfully she has never seen the extent of my ski collection as I've been keeping at my mothers house while I ebay it, they thought at one point I was running a ski shop and tried to turn it into a business account... |

Depends how much £££ is tucked under your mattress, personally I would opt for a nice little woodland, 3 - 5 acres to play in, take the defender, camping over a long weekend, building wildlife habitats, plus a chance to buy some toys chainsaw, log splitter etc
Or save your cash, volunteer at Wildlife Trust or Woodland Trust, they will absorb as much time as you can give them, plus great feeling your doing something positive to keeping UK wildlife.
