Long story short, my 2.4 TDCi has a history of excess crankcase pressure and passing oil via the PCV valve
Over the years I've replaced the injector seals god knows how many times and am pretty confident they're sealing well after cleaning up the head seats but still passing oil out of the PCV valve. I pulled the inlet manifold and glow plugs to perform a compression test and seem to be getting good compression so I believe the valvetrain and rings to be ok. 1. 370psi 2. 380psi 3. 390psi 4. 390psi Where else can I look for the source of crankcase pressure? Are there any other breathers that could be blocked? Be it internal or external I am going to do cylinder 1 and 2 injector seals again then retest compression, but then I'm at a bit of a loss > 110 XS Double Cab |

Ok thanks, I will do some research. Can they be done with the head in situ on this engine? > 110 XS Double Cab

I do not know for the TDCI, but I have replaced valve seals on other engines with the head in situ. Just make sure that the valves you are working on has the piston at Top Dead Center as once you remove the seal, the valve wants to drop in the cylinder.
You would need a special tool to compress the valve springs... actually nothing very special about these tools as they can be home made from a piece of flat bar. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |
