Yeah, I'd suggest ignition switch, too. It's a relatively common failing, unfortunately. Darren

Probably as above, but also worth checking if all connections to the ignition switch are making a good contact

Thank you community
![]() I will check if there is a loose connection somewhere, in doubt I will order a new ignition switch. It's kind of silly but the truck grew on me (it has excelled in so many jobs) and I will fix it. It is my "swiss knife" multi purpose tool I don't want to miss any more. ![]() Jeep Wrangler YJ 1990 4.0. Front 78' Dana 60, Rear CUCV 14 bolt |

From experience only buy a genuine new ignition switch. They do one that comes with new barrels for the doors so you still have one key entry.

The ignition switch is a separate module that fixes to the end of the barrel. There's no need to change locks or keys when swapping this switch. Darren

The cables that carry current to the starter motor tend to loosen, I would check that !!!

![]() Click image to enlarge It seems I have to remove the complete dash with everything in order to have access to the shear bolts. I will try to bore them through the plastic with a long bit, hope it will work. Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR Jeep Wrangler YJ 1990 4.0. Front 78' Dana 60, Rear CUCV 14 bolt |

Use a dremmel to cut a slot in them and use a socket with flat screw driver head.
Or order a replacement lower bracket and just cut through it with the dremmel. |

The dremmel tool didn't do it, because the bolt head was too deep inside.
![]() Click image to enlarge I just drilled through the plastic part and used ez extractor. ![]() Click image to enlarge Here is the ignition switch. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge New ignition switch ordered ![]() Jeep Wrangler YJ 1990 4.0.
