Hi. First things first have your checked the fuse? Break out your multimeter. Is it getting power? After that check the heater blower multiple and check that is getting power. If it is then there is a problem with your heater motor.

I too had my heater blower pack up (in 2020). The day before we drove back from Croatia, in 35 degree sunshine. Horrible in traffic!
I checked fuses and switch. Then unplugged the blower motor and rigged up a test harness, which confirmed that the motor itself had died. 2012 Puma. My local specialist said it is rare that the motor packs up, and ordered me a new one which i fitted myself. It could be that LHD versions are easier to access. It took some messing about, but was doable. I too had the blower die. As per other posts, you want to check the power feed first. You should also check the heater resistor pack - they have a reputation for dying too... Power and resistor pack can be accessed with everything in situ.
Once I knew my blower was dead, I replaced it the long way - removing most of the stuff on the inner wing and the inner wing itself (not the actual wing panel). Painful. Then recently-ish, a member on the AULRO forum had to replace his. His method: "... Very easy, and no need to remove the whole AC /fan unit. Just undo the duct from the top guard, and slide it all the way forward, 3 nuts hold the unit onto the bulkhead, and the unit can be pushed up and towards the motor to give access to the blower motor and resistors. Its a fiddly job, but not too difficult. ..." Much better! I have not tried it, but a look under the bonnet makes this definitely the way to attack it. BTW, all comments in the context of a RHD car. |

I removed the blower fuze and it was ok. I have the connectors removed from the blower and the resistor and I can get a multimeter today. I shall look for power into the resistor and put a 12volt feed into the blower motor. If there are issues with either, it is good to know that there might well be a way of removing the heater unit without removing the whole front wing. I did read that it is a lot easier to work on a left hand drive Defender heater. This is only one of several jobs I need to do on my truck. Just as well I love it but there is always something to do on it.
