Advice on running reverse camera cable
Hi team,

I have a new hifi with the 3" screen and a reverse camera.

Im going to mount the camera up high I think, above the back door where the sprayer is (that will be moved).

What is the best route for the cable for the camera? Where does the wire for the sprayer go?

Was thinking about going under the carpets and up the rear facing side window trim and under the headlining....

Is that the best way?

Installing one of these is on my never-ending list of things to do but I do plan to go up the drivers side A pillar and along the inside edge of the roof. It's the shortest route but will require the removal of the headlining, which is one of the reasons I keep putting it off Rolling Eyes

The rear washer has a pipe to it rather than a wire, which comes in from the left/passenger side having followed a similar route up the passenger A pillar and along the roof. It's quite easy to move it that way slightly to clear a centrally mounted camera, probably without even shortening the pipe. Darren

If you haven’t bought one yet consider getting a Bluetooth camera set up, you only need a local feed for the camera so no complicated routing of wires. Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

thanks Darren - I am very much at risk of this sitting int he box for ages. The head unit took 10 mins to fit, but the hard work is the camera. I need to line the roof with sound deadening so might do both but then it all gets a bit overwhelming for someone as lazy as I!

Thanks Leamreject - I already bought a wired camera

Is the headliner easy to remove?

I installed the rear view camera under the number plate light.
Wiring went up next to the rear quarter windows and along the inside channel of the roof.
I had to pull out the rear quarter trim, the long piece of trim on the rear side of the headliner only. The front headliner i just pulled the 2 fir trees on the passenger door and had to undo the sunshade. My monitor is in the rear view mirror though. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

t's not difficult but is awkward and bulky. You have to strip out all of the upper side trims too, unfortunately. Darren

Well, just to reinforce what you think already, I put mine into the rooflining.

It's powered via the front cam, so the cable needed to get there, rather than down the A pillar.

One thing to think about though, with my 110 the supplied cable (rear cam to front cam) wasn't long enough and I needed to get an extension. Donald

Use the Optimill reversing camera and integrated number plate from Mudstuff. Run cable along rooflining and down the a-pillar. I can fit one in about 2 hours. Dead simple.

Use the special cable from mudstuff to switch on the camera when the reversing light is engaged.

I ran mine along the floor under the carpets.
I already had a dash camera on the back, did it whilst sound proofing it.
The cable comes down behind the rear speakers.
