Family have had D4 6cyl for years with no issues at all, have used that to tow a large near 2ton twin axle caravan and its a totally different animal compared to the heady heights of Defender power......... Laughing

Having said that the defender will happily cruise along at 60'ish with no issue albeit we tend to use the LWB Transporter T5 5cyl most of the time - the longer wheelbase is far more relaxing than most other vehicles I have used over the years

A Defender will tow a van of that size without any issues whatsoever. However, having used both, I can say that it won't be as good as a Discovery. The latter is heavier, more powerful and more comfortable, all leading to a more relaxing towing experience. Darren
