United Kingdom 2002 Defender 110 2.5 TD HT Cairns Blue
4 x Bike - Tow Bar Bike Rack to clear Rear Spare Wheel
Hi all.

I have just bought a 2002 Defender 110 that has had a Mantec Swing Spare Wheel Carrier mounted on the rear.

Can anyone advise on where I can get a tow bar bike rack for 4 x bikes that will clear the spare wheel?

I've looked everywhere and all I can really come up with are the ones that sit on the wheel itself or bolt to the Mantec (but are for Disco's not defenders according to the write up). I'm not a fan of these as the bikes are adult bikes and I really want a tow bar mounted rack.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Maxxraxx ones should fit OK. Not cheap new but I picked one up secondhand for less than £100.

Great, saw those but out of stock everywhere and wasn't sure the second hand ones would swerve the wheel as no-one has listed that in their description. Will drop a few people some questions. Thanks again.

Another vote for the Maxxraxx.

The other plus point is the parts are pretty much interchangable across the models, so if you find a straight posted version for the right price, swap to the swan neck, or vice versa.

Just remember how far they project out the back Thumbs Up

Be careful if you are wishing to use the maxxraxx with an e bike and the top tube adapter (creates a level clamping surface on bikes with a a non flat top tube) as they don’t like the weight and bouncing - I had one mounted on my Series 2 and the clamp on adapter bent and was only just holding together. This nearly ended in a very expensive mess. Admittedly my bike does weight 24kg, I never had any problem with my previous bike which did not need the adapter and weighed under 9kg. Defender First Edition

I’m selling a MaxxRaxx with 4 bike fixings and a spare towhook bracket so you can use it on 2 vehicles. I’m away until 23 Sep and it would take about 5 days after that to go through the post but if these timings are right for you and you can accept £100 plus postage give me a pm.
