Is your main battery ok, do the dash lights come on ? Just wondering if your battery is dead or you have lost a connection. Either onto the battery via one of the battery terminals or a bolt has come loose on one of the chassis earth straps.
Check the main battery terminals first. See if they are loose. Then you will need to check fuses. Which year is your defender? This will help check which fuse could be blown. is the red light on the dash... the immobiliser red light?
Have you got the Xeng ignition shroud fitted? mine will do this on occasions, i just spin the key around and it works worth a try  2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

Also disconnect the battery for 10 mins when reconnected press the fob at least 7 times 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

The immobiliser light isn’t on when sitting in the car and the key not in the ignition, when I put it to position 2 the immobiliser light is solid

How old is your Defender? If it is a late one with a big chrome band on one side of the alarm fob then see my thread (link below) and start by reading the update at the top of page 2. Everyone was very helpful when my alarm failed but looking back I think there was some confusion between the 10AS alarm fitted to most Defenders and the later alarm fitted to the later ones (chrome on the fob is one way to tell)- they are very different units and there is much more experience out there with the 10AS.

So i am finally back home, thank you all for your help! The solution was replacing the fuse i think in position 7 under the drivers seat. Im new to this defender game but so far both problems i have encountered have been fixed by replacing the fuse, i should really learn... The next issue is finding out why the fuse blew. Any suggestions?

Not knowing what year defender you have, or whether it’s a 90 or 110 makes it hard to narrow things down. If a 110 have a look at this https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56085...al+locking. You say other fuses have blown, so knowing which ones and what the symptoms were will also help. But it does make me feel you have some chafed wires that are shorting out intermittently, so checking the ones between pillars and doors would be my starting point when investigating.

That makes a very good point, I have a 2002 TD5 110 CSW with central locking. The previous problem was the rear wiper fuse went. Ill have a look at the wiring where you suggested, thanks!

are the link is for post 07 fuse box lay out will send you update link for 02 fuse box but fuse in both cases i.e. F7 serves alarm battery voltage input to alarm unit i.e. green box also proverbs dc power to the central locking outputs so check wiring between door and door frames |
