A standard 300 has a decent amount of grunt even in a 110 but if you're looking for more:
1. Start with tweaking the fuel pump (great PDF here: http://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Tuni...Rev_2.pdf) 2. Full width intercooler 3. Boost pin mod 4. Upgraded turbo 5. Silicon pipes 6. Decat, EGR blank and straight through exhaust A range of mods at a range of costs but personally I would try it as standard to start with, see how you get on with it . Matt. Biggest change is tweaking the pump and its free. New intercoolers, silicone pipes etc are great but cost a lot of cash and for me dont change it enough to make it worth the money.

When I bought my 300tdi csw, it came with an upgraded intercooler and egr delete, I added an improved exhaust and all in my mind improve it . I’ve also got discovery transfer box to go in which should help cruising ability. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

My advice is to bin off the EGR system straight away, when I bought my 300 tdi, it was a sluggish as hell. Turns out it was the EGR pipe that links the system to the intercooler was leaking. We had only fitted a replacement pipe to find that out, Then the full system was just removed and binned. That really did restore power, also check that nothing is blowing around the manifold and inlet area too, As that also kills off power. Then move on to the DE cat and decent air filter, and see what happens, before you start playing with fuel pumps etc. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Silicone hosing throughout and a full width intercooler increased my 300tdi's power massively and increased mpg by 10-12%. Small increase to mpg with a Donaldson Wolf pattern air cleaner box and 3 inch raised air intake (I had 2.5 in previously). Mine came with egr blanking plate in place. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent

All the above is great advise and mods but a word to the wise before adding all the sexy stuff make sure the boring stuff is sorted first a decent service ,fuel filter timing ect think of it as starting from fresh WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG

no, the fuel injector pump was as per original setting (unless the previous owner had done anything which i think very unlikely) a clean fuel filter makes a bit of a difference! subsequently I have had new fuel injectors fitted (mine were 20% out) ,attended to the turbo (wastegate had seized) and had the injector pump reconditioned - to cure emission problems which led to mot fail - but emissions only started 4 years after the intercooler was fitted. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent |

Best upgrade for a 300 Tdi is an overhaul of the terrible designed cooling system that’s header tank isn’t high enough in the design...good old Land Rover. Before you do anything’s else check the condition of the radiator/hoses and I’d get a low coolant alarm for it. People seem to love them, but I think they were a step back from the mighty 200! I’ve lost count of how many heads, gaskets and overheating problems I’ve done on them in my life.
Best upgrade though is a ported and flowed Turner Engineering AMC head worth every penny. |

1st mod for me before you do any tuning especially on the fuel/boost side is to install a egt so you can see the result of any tuning and make sure it doesn’t get hot enough to melt something

It’s an upgraded casting, doesn’t suffer cracking like the originals. Basically better air flow. The ports that let the air in and out are cleaned and shaped for better flow. I’ve dealt with turners for at least 20 years and you’ll struggle to find a person with a bad experience, will always offer help and advice with no hard sale. https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/Mobile...2x20634610 |
