The Mahle filters are poor in my opinion, paper ends instead of plastic. The Mann ones don’t fit properly. For the small premium buy a genuine Land Rover or Ford one. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I don't think the main dealer service history adds value to a vehicle as so many main dealers do such poor work.

Agree on the oil filter, LR ones are good and not expensive in the scheme of things. Also LR sump plugs are only circa £3.50 and the air filter from Land Rover, albeit a fair bit more pricey than alternatives gets good reviews from tuners for its performance. Worth contacting dan at duckworths, site sponsor, to get a price for filters and sump plug. However the Indy will have an account with LR for discounted parts, the thing is they may bank that and charge you full price.
So you can insist on the use of Lr gen filters and plug supplying your own or getting them to, plus ask what oil they are using. If it’s a basic service then it’s probably only an hours work for them, including checking other fluid levels, brake pads etc . They should grease props, hinges, Bonnet catch etc but I bet most don’t. You say full service, but what mileage are you at as they may be including Transfer box, diff, brake etc fluid changes as well. So ask what exactly they are quoting for when they say full service. That way you can understand how much time they are spending and the charge per hour they are making. Small Indi’s are circa £45-£50 per hour, dealers are circa £100, bigger indi’s are in the middle. |

The vehicles at 41000mls.
They are obviously the middle price wise. They mention checking and topping up of the fluids definitely not changing them. Really just looks like oil and filter change ( sump plug ) air and fuel filter / general health check. The other alternative is it to take it the local garage ( not Indy ) that I have happily used for many years, supply him with The service kit, let him do his thing and stamp the service book for an awful lot less. 🤔 |

Don't forget that min dealers and probably most independents will also include a hefty charge for disposing of your old oil. I think the last time I had a main dealer service (more than a decade ago, thankfully) the disposal charge for the old oil was almost as much as the cost of the new oil.

Yes I suppose there is the disposal element to consider, my local tip seems to have closed the
waste oil disposal tanks at the moment which is a bit of a bummer. In the old days we used to use it to power the heaters in the garage but can’t do that now unfortunately. |

Old engine oil, with a little diesel added makes a great fence treatment. Just don’t lean on it for a few months! If you do use your local garage I’m sure there is now a way for them , or even you, to update your Land Rover online service history. Someone will know on here as I’m sure i’ve read that in a post. |

My vehicle was bought second hand so I don’t have a warranty with it
My local garage did update my online service history for me when he serviced my Mitsubishi pickup, this was after I refused to pay Mitsubishi £650 for it’s 3 yr service so I don’t see why he couldn’t do that for the Landrover |

Stand by for a hefty fine on conviction if you do this nowadays, though. |
