A while since I've posted. I've been a bit preoccupied.
Im guessing everybody knows about my Lightweight project, people either seem to love it or hate it. One thing is almost certain, if you plan on daily driving an old banger into the not too distant future converting to Electric is the way forward. Ive now done 4600km powered entirely by the sun !! www.youtube.com/user/qfogarty/videos ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Youtube videos [/url] |

That's great! Anymore info on the build, batteries, range, charge time, costs involved?

Thanks fellas, seems to be a vote of confidence so far.
James, the build is on my page at www.goingbush.com/ptev.html it cost about AU$20k , but that would be about $5k cheaper now as Lithiums Are considerably less now and there is a better / cheaper / more powerful motor also avaliable now. A lot of dosh but Ive seen people spend more on fitting LS7's etc into Rovers , but as the price of petrol goes up the cost of conversion proportionally decreases. This thing pays itself off the more you use it. I get about 80km per charge ( I don't take it easy ) If I drove like a granny might get around 150k ?? It takes about 6-8 hours to charge from my rooftop solar panels (3.3kw charger) I use about 30kwh per 100km. A Nissan Leaf gets about 18 kwh per 100km. Best thing , its so much more fun & easier to drive, utterly reliable , and it doesn't stink of petrol fumes. Best thing I ever did. |

Excellent.
Only just dropped onto this thread, so going to have to run through the YouTube play list, but good to see that it is still up and running well: |
