for the record, i ran a K&N filter in my 306 HDI, and that killed the maf sensor, i switched to the ITG filter and its been running it for years, with out an issue.
I have seen a few people run k&N and ITG filters in the past and they have been fine. So i would put it down to the filter having to much oil on it. a bit of a grey area if you ask me with these filters. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Sounds like genuine air filter and MAF should stop this issue!
