It, or rather they, since there are two, are a great reminder of how good a proper Landrover looks in deep bronze green. So much nicer than most of the modern colours.
One day I'd like to build a heritage tribute from a TDCi 110 HT, in DBG with the classic galv cappings, etc. I reckon it would look great. |

I reckon it's a 130. The deep sills do throw off the proportions somewhat but you can tell that the rear body has been lengthened by the way that the hood ties run out near to the front. You can also see the panel join. The deep sills are very Series II-esque but they were a feature of many Royal review vehicles back to Series I days. They're basically modesty skirts to hide the underpinnings, which was also the intention when LR introduced them on the Series II. They were reduced in depth for Series III and later models as experience had shown that they were prone to damage. Something that's obviously irrelevant for this application. What a fantastic choice of vehicle, very handsome and timeless .
I must confess that when they announced it would be a Land Rover, I thought we’d be looking at a chopped about 2021 Range Rover ! What a relief https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

He wouldn't be seen dead, quite literally, in the latest iteration... (too soon?)
Apparently, it was originally Belize Green. Was that a colour in 2003? It would seem quite in keeping with the man, if he left instructions for them to be converted into a gun buses for one of the royal estates. |

Looks like a 130 chassis cab, with a 110 tub, and an extension between the cab and the tub. Below pic is super-positioning the hearse with a 130 chassis cab. Click image to enlarge 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

What a cracking vehicle. Despite having done numerous public duties, I don't tend to watch royal weddings or funerals. But I'll be watching tomorrow, just to see this. Beautiful colour as well. Fantastic that despite all the brands/vehicles the Firm have a connection with (Bentley, Rolls, Range Rover etc) Philip chose what many of us think is the most iconic British vehicle of all time. Classy decision to choose a classless vehicle.

It is in effect the pick-up version of Camelman's lovely 130 USW, and on comparison I think you are all correct about it being a standard (nominal) 130" wheelbase, it looks the same.

It is an absolutely stunning Landy. How can a vehicle be so classy and class-less. Work the land or own the land.
A real some show of character, from Phillip. And the royal family following through on his wishes. Recalling the pictures of Liz driving her green 110, with a head scarf. So British, just perfect. You can't live in the past, but it makes you wonder why the world is in such a burning rush for never ending new 'stuff', just for the sake of it. Nice one Prince Phillip, it passes the pub test. |

Seems they' re making a comeback: Hendy Group opens order books for new ‘Mini’ Moke Click image to enlarge "South coast-based dealer group Hendy has opened order books for the new Moke. The new model, built by Moke International and which revives the spirit of the original Mini Moke built by the British Motor Corporation in the 1960s, is on sale now for summer delivery. Prices start at £23,950 and buyers can choose from a wide range of personalisation options and 14 colours, including choosing the colour of the chassis, bumpers, central bars and grille. Up to now the reborn Moke has only been available in the Caribbean, but Hendy Group will be the only dealer selling in the UK. Standard equipment includes power steering and a heated windscreen, and all Mokes get a 66bhp 1.1-litre engine and the choice of a manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox. While it may look similar to the original Mini Moke, the new car is larger and has improved suspension. It’s built in France and will be imported to the UK in limited numbers. The news of the return of the car and Hendy Group securing exclusive rights to selling it broke in October 2020. At the time, Hendy boss Paul Hendy said: ‘It’s great news that this amazing car will once again be available in the UK. ‘Ever since Moke announced plans to relaunch in the UK, the interest has been understandably high and we’re looking forward to helping people live the dream with the car.’" https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/he...oke/221338 |
