I got given the keys in the fancy box, and I got him to show me where the towbar was to make sure it had been included. Then I drove away.
Not sure what else anyone would have wanted? I’m buying a car not picking up an award so don’t really need any ceremony. |

The only time I've ever had a handover experience was my Range Rover Sport. It was ready in a bay looking all shiny and I then had to sit there for about 30 minutes whilst the salesman essentially tried to sell me the car again - going on about how great it looks, how amazing this and that feature is.
Then the manager came to thank me for my purchase, speaking to me like we were best mates. Then the salesman fumbled his way through telling me where the controls are, how the menus worked etc. I politely smiled my way through it but I actually just wanted to get on with my day. I know they're trying to create an experience, but I'd prefer just being handed the keys and being sent on my way. |

A few years ago my handover started with the Defender being unveiled (it was covered with a silky black cloth) I was then presented with the keys and a rather nice keyring and a huge bunch of flowers for the wife. But this was in the day when the original Defenders mattered. Now, whenever I return to the same dealership I am treated with some degree of disdain. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Don't misunderstand me, I don't want someone trying to tell me about the car when I probably know more than they do, but considering I'd just spent that much money, I kind of expected a little more than if I had been picking my car up after a service!
It was all a bit anti climax that's all. When I bought my RRS, I at least got a bottle of champagne, the wife got a massive bunch of flowers. I think the point here is that there's little consistency, it would be good for the brand if they had that. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

June last year I got to sign some papers, pay some money and was then handed two sets of keys and thank you for your business.......... not presentation boxes no nice coffee table books no nothing. Not even a phone call when I got home asking if everything was OK - when I bought previous cars from London based dealers it was like having a day out and both Lookers Park Royal and Grange Garage Barnett the General Manager or DP called me to thank me for my business and hoping I had had a safe drive back to Scotland. OK so it was lock down time when I collected this car from a Scottish dealership but no follow up whatsoever. The invitation to do the LRE Half Day comes in the post once the dealers have told LR, the dealers don’t give them out any longer as far as I know Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

I suppose to be fair I did have the chap phone me a few times in the first few weeks to check all was okay.
As I had no other way of getting there to collect it I had to drive across in the old 90 and so was back at Stirling in the new car a day later with a trailer to pick it up. Had a brief chat then too but no issues. Each to their own I suppose - I couldn’t imagine anything more off-putting than being made a fuss of like that just for buying a car! I was told the LRE voucher comes through from LR automatically as above, though I’ve not had mine yet so need to chase that. I believe if you phone up the LRE centre you can just book using your VIN anyway though. |

They are possibly holding back to see when they can officially re-open with groups of people - the Dunkeld one I did with Mark Anderson last October was a Trek day in our own cars. No box. No book. Just the keys. Sat in a sterlised room to sign some paperwork, and then a walk round the front of the dealership to get in the car. Quick chat with salesman, and then off I went grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
The half day LRE offer comes direct from LR now, not the dealership. To be fair the salesman gave me a followup call this afternoon which I consider was good service. Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history) |

My last five Land Rover vehicles have all been delivered to my home.
Don’t have to traipse to the dealers. No celebration, just given keys. No silk blankets. Walk around and check vehicle in my drive way. Wham bam thank you mam! I’m happy with that. I can buy my wife flowers. My contact at the dealer I have chosen has always provided an A1 service. Always get follow up calls post delivery. My new Defender will be handed over using the same method. And I will buy my next Land Rover product the same way, no dramas. Plus I never had a test drive in any of them 2012 discovery 4 2014 discovery 4 2015 evoque hse (the wife’s) 2015 Defender Urban Truck 90 Hard Top 2020 Discovery 5 2021 Defender 110 Hard Top S awaiting delivery. I got my keys in a presentation box and well that was it. Thought I had a nice book in the glovebox but it was quick guide manual . Salesman did apologise for the lack of a handover, I’ve dealt with him for years and I usually tell him to skip it and let me get on with it anyway. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I remember my dad used to change his Merc's each three years...
Factory collection, flights, hotel, meal, then tour of the factory, coffees etc until you arrive at the collection area.... where your new car was on show... Ok this could not happen now but as you say its the second most expensive item your likely to buy so chucking you some keys and a mug is a bit.... |

I remember 2013 I brought an Audi S5 for my wife and collected it from Tamworth Audi.
It was in its own little showroom. Under a cover. Too much pomp and circumstance for me. Sit in the car sir Start it up sir Rev it up sir Suits you sir Not for me. I am only buying a car all I want is to receive a car. Don’t want to be part of the greatest showman! Maybe just old school but don’t get the point. Aren’t we just purchasing a product? I don’t get any celebrations from Amazon when I purchase from them, they just deliver what I order!!
