I hoped that may be the case but that’s very reassuring to know, thank you

Hmmm, I may be mad but I am considering buying a new 20MY D240 First Edition from dealer stock now.
I did the whole waiting for a new car thing with a different brand last year and not sure I want to go through it again and the holding pool uncertainty is frustrating. Besides part of me thinks having the four pot without intelligent 4WD and the MHEV gubbins might lead to an easier life.... |

The D240 is a fine engine, you loose some torque to the D250 also Production of First Editions has ended. It is a nice spec.
What colour scheme have you been offered? There were not many factory optional extras offered on them - e-diff was one and the security system was the other - anything else was dealer fitted Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

It's Pangea with Black Roof and Khaki interior (part cloth so I would treat that myself with Aerospace 303 or similar fabric hood water-proofer). It has Electrically deployable tow bar and secure tacker pro but no e-diff it seems.
I would get dealer to fit wheel arch protection. And then further down the line replace the 20"'s with 18"s and duratecs. |

I was in the same boat, prepared to order a new 250 but the uncertain wait times and the fact our discovery 5 was devaluing week on week , made me pick up an approved HSE 240 with 1500 miles on the clock and a £10k saving . Every extra I’d ever want was already on it along with some I’ll never use !
I’m pretty sure it was a sensible move . The discovery passenger window fell into the door frame when I wound it down to talk to the dealer 😂 The timing was extraordinary! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

And it's sold - to someone else.
Back into the holding pool I go, but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for something available now. |

But wait! Another one has appeared - First Edition, Indus Silver, e-diff, deployable tow... looking good.
Was just negotiating swapping the wheels from the 22"'s to something more sensible when... someone else bought it. It's exciting, this. |

Have now been offered 3 further unregistered Defenders (dealer is doing a great job sourcing these) but all have involved just one or two too compromises too far (I am being slightly picky).
Meanwhile got a mail from my original dealer to say that my order has been accepted by the factory and I am now out of the holding pool. Delivery (provisionally) expected in July. Was also told explicitly that amendments, even major ones, before the build lockdown date would not impact place in the build queue. We shall see. After looking at so many different unregistered models I think I am going to submit a major amendment to my original order. The race is on.... |
