[Wanted] Drop arm puller
Afternoon all,

Wondering if anyone happens to have one they no longer require please? Seems like a tool that might have been bought and used then likely not required again.

Cheers,

If someone was willing to loan me one, I would be more than happy with that Very Happy

I have the steering box already removed, just need to get the old drop arm off and wanted to avoid cutting it off.

Cheers,

^^ Those seem to be the most effective type (unusual since they are also the cheapest).

The last drop arm I removed actually bent my (very expensive) Sykes Pickavant puller, so with little hope I switched to a puller of the type above, with a long breaker bar. That wouldn't shift it either, it just became frightening!

Eventually in desperation I added my 3/4" Milwaukee impact wrench (A tool of formidable and terrifying power) to the mix, thinking that as the puller of the type above was relatively cheap the worst that could happen was that the puller would break, and the drop arm popped off good as gold with no damage to anything. I was very impressed with the puller.

I do think that the impact action of the wrench made all the difference (the torque I was applying with the breaker bar was at least as great as the rattle gun), so you might need to consider a similar approach.

Its a weighty bit of metal. I have used it once and a few turns of the nut(I think with an impact gun) the arm popped off. 1999 Defender TD5 110
