Voice control of navigation?
I'll preface this by saying this Defender 110 HSE is my first JLR product. It's possible (probable) that I'm doing something wrong... For what its worth the Defender shows that the software is up to date

Ok, here goes: I'm having a difficult time getting the navigation system to work via voice commands. I say the prompts that are on the screen and I get replies like: "I'm sorry, I cannot update the weather at this time" or "Navigation unavailable".

Its worse with Points of Interest. The system can't seem to find anything, even if manually entered. Big major chain stores: nope. Small mom&pop operations? Rolling with laughter Not a chance

So, like I said, I'm probably the error as far as JLR is concerned, but its a bit disappointing as our other family vehicles can voice navigate virtually anywhere; even to really small, out of the way places, with zero issues, both nearby and hundreds of miles away. So, to all you super knowledgeable JLR people out there: Please Help!

You may find it’s on the smartphone side of the fence that’s an issue instead. I have an Apple car play unit in mine. (Which obviously isn’t the new defender system).
However, I get the same issues with the Siri thing, not sure where the Android side would stand.
As far as I’m concerned that’s the issue rather than the LR system.

Or at least that’s the advice I would give, the only thing that can fix that is updates on both sides of software. The JLR software should be fine, it’s probably the changes of phone software that changes. No Guts, No Glory.

Ipe have you carried out a PiviPro system reset since this problem started and after the last update? Start PiviPro, press down on the on/off infotainment button (far right side of the control panel on US cars) - hold the button down for up to 20 secs or the screen goes black. Let it reboot and see if that makes any change. You might also want to check that things like the AHBA hasn’t reverted to off after doing this. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Thanks for the replies. I haven't done a reset but I'll give that a try.

As far as apple/android I'm not sure that's a factor. When the Defender was delivered I didnt set up either as I wanted the Defenders native nav to reign supreme like I have set up in my other vehicles. The delivery guy didn't mention that this would be an issue. Frankly, the less Apple or Google I have in my life the happier I am. I mean, really, we didnt buy Apple Rover Defenders or Google Rover Defenders. We bought Land Rover Defenders.

I had a long drive this afternoon (about 120 miles) and attempted via voice command to have the nav find it's way, anywhere. Nope, no such luck. After talking to the Defender she'd come back with "navigation is not available". Perhaps that's an improvement over asking for nav and being told it can't supply weather info?

As for the vid above... yeah it feels like that. Ugh.

On a side note, my grandmother on my mothers side was from Scotland. Edinburgh I believe. I hope to get the opportunity to visit there some day. From the pictures and videos I've seen Scotland is a wonderful, beautiful place.

Here is something I haven’t looked for in the menus for the Nav in this Defender but in RRS Disco Evoque and FFRR if you didn’t set up the country you were in initially then the Nav was as good as useless as it wouldn’t accept addresses or post/zip codes for your physical location if it had defaulted to the first country on the list - Belgium. As I say I haven’t gone looking into the navigation settings to see if this still applies with the new PiviPro system but often after my previous cars with the InControl system or older generations of LR Nav often needed to have the home country reselected after being in the service bay or the battery had been disconnected. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Correction: it worked great until I parked and shut off the Defender. After starting back up we've reverted to: "cannot update weather info" Rolling Eyes

On start up give it time to hook up t tinternet, once it has you should get the app working. If the app doesn't work maybe its because its not 'hooked up' to the WWW 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

So after my last post and it not working, it sat overnight and happily worked the next day. Where it sat there is good cellular service so it could connect without issue. I've gotten OTA updates there so connectivity is know as good.

Go onto the next day and we're back to lobotomy-ville. Voice commands to the nav do not work. I drove back south 120 miles to another location where the Defender has received OTA Updates and it again sat overnight. No joy, it still doesn't work, even following a reset.

I don't use the voice nav commands everyday, but when I ask for them I don't think its unreasonable to expect the thing to work. I hate to complain but this is pretty disappointing Banging Head

My Defender voice command is doing the same thing. Will not work with navigation. Did you get yours fixed and how?

Same problem with mine. I either get "I cannot update the weather at this time" or 'navigation not ready". Typing addresses in manually works just fine though. ■ MY21 110 D300 SE ■ MY17 Jaguar F-Pace ■

I haven't had the opportunity to have the dealership look at it yet. The timing just hasn't worked. I hope to next week.
I hate that you guys are having issues, but its reassuring to know I'm not alone on this

Good luck. I hope it is an easy fix. Strange that it only effects a minimum of vehicles. Seems like software would be the same in every vehicle and an issue in one would effect all. Please keep me informed. i really appreciate your updates Thanks
