They wanted over £1000 for me on chipped 130. So sticking with NFU £680.

I was thinking of changing this year as my Defender insurance is getting more complicated year by year, as it is now seen as most underwriters as a commercial vehicle because I need business use and some other odd things.
So called Sureterm as people said they were good - they were not interested in insuring my Defender (with business use) unless I had took a limited mileage policy for under 10K miles pa OR it was over 15 years old (it is a 2008) on a classic policy (also limited mileage). I average about 12K as I commute in mine as well as use it for the odd business trip here and there. I got in touch with NFU for a quote but it was over Christmas / New Year and took too long as the broker had to keep tooing and froing with the underwriter who, instead of asking all the questions in one lot, asked one thing, which they got back to me about and then passed my reply on, then another thing and so on. In the end they wanted a modification list AND an engineers report before they would give a fixed quote. So I stayed with Adrian Flux. |

Funny that, ! Just got in from a soaking freezing cold bike ride to find my renewal from NFU...£635 spunk!
First thing I thought was "no way" After a hot bath and thinking about it, I can ring my local office, speak to the same girls, they put up with me over the past 3 years swapping cars and addresses like it's musical chairs, never charging me admin fees, I'm insured off road and towing trailers.... I'll pay the extra I think |

Nowerdays in the UK there is no single insurance company which will cater for everyone... I have found that I have had the same car as someone else in the same area and less than a couple of years age gap and the difference has been staggering (nearly double). It is all about stats, from previous years.
Insurance out here in Cyprus is just right. Me (29) on the defender is £600 (£200 of it being because it is N1), where the missus (21) pays £500 on a Daihatsu 4x4..... Fact of life is that she has only been driving 6 months- If she lived in the UK she would have to pay £1.5-2000 for a 1 litre hatchback, and probably wouldn't get insured on a 4x4. I think I will stay here for now. Glyn |
