Correct. MHEV is just a posh version of stop/start. PHEV is a tax fiddle and they’re useless as EVs for many people, most are bought for their tax benefits and then mainly driven on petrol. Especially when the range is as tiny as it is in the Defender example. Remember when your or so 30 miles of EV driving is up you’ve just got a small P300 4-cylinder 2.0 litre petrol lugging around a heavier vehicle. Fine if you’re only ever doing short journeys I guess but if you want the Defender for long-distance driving, towing, higher speed etc. then you’ll more likely want one of the diesel engines. Or the P400/V8 if you’re made of money! |
