To be honest any aluminium washer jet is not going to be cheap given production volumes. Design and development engineering do ones at a similar price to CSI, and Optimill do ones a fair bit more expensive, albeit with more powerful pumps. So the CSI ones seem the best choice if money is the object, if no object then it’s Optimill.
Re the remaps and ancillaries, plenty on here will give better advice, I just run as standard as I like to be going sufficiently slow to notice the admiring glances people give to a defender . |

I genuinely dont begrudge spending 160 on the CSI option if theyre as good as they say, i just wondered if anyone had a different soloution, i had read somewhere of someone installing Disco 3 bonnet mounted windscreen washers on their defender

Firstly, the HP thing has always been a false flag for me - it's about as aerodynamic as a shipping container!. I went BAS 150bhp and the difference is the drivability and smoothness rather than 'drag strip' performance. Optimil kit is very good and includes a bigger output pump for the front screen - worth it in my opinion. Rgds.

My advice is to drive it for a few months and see how it feels as there is a large amount of difference between a 300TDI and a 2.4TDCI ... We have had all models of defenders and the Puma engine is the most drivable of them all. The standard set up will sit happily at 80mph all day on the autobahn and pull up mountains with no issues. its not a racer but gets things done in its own way with little stress if you use the 6 gears correctly
If after a few months you still want to spend the money then you will know more about what the vehicle does and what you want it to do. just my thoughts Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Unfortunately the puma isn’t as tunable as the td5’s so getting the big power isn’t possible but you will get a lot more torque.
You won’t be getting 220ho reliably out of a puma, IRB developments had 205-210hp out of theirs and that was on the limit of the engine, Driving a defender with 200+go and 500+Nm of torque is fun and you do surprise a lot of people, I have a td5 with a vgt and intercooler, etc. And it was worth it for me because the td5 doesn’t have the same torque levels as the puma, Personally, I think the best value for money would be the intercooler and remap option, the 180hp and 500+Nm you’ll get will certainly make it much more driveable and a lot quicker off the start |

I agree with Jimbo.
Just to highlight the torque is what you should be looking at more than HP on these vehicles. You will notice a nice improvement with a good remap and intercooler from BAS, Alive, IRB over standard on a 2.2 puma. Chris |

Re. the windscreen washer - try simply swapping the pumps over before deciding if it is worth spending £160 - the rear one is more powerful.
I just swapped the electrical connections over at the reservoir and then there are joins in the pipes as they go under the heater - it was easier to swap the pipes here than take off the pumps. |
