The DC is in the market for new side steps, the current ones are shot (littered with patches or rust, flaking paint, broken rubber). I know that many say rust/dents/peeling paint makes for a real Def but mine are frankly an embarrassment.
I'm looking at something sturdier than my current pair, which were and despite the price, I suspect cheap knock offs. I think the local climate doesn't help either. I've seen loads of very similar looking steps, and can't get a steer on which are real HD steps and which are just for show. I know Masai has a good rep with many on here and they've pu their name to a pair that are their version of Fire and Ice, are HD zinc-treated glavanised steel, powder coated and come with an aluminium tread. What's more, they're not even the most expensive out there. https://www.masai4x4.com/defender/side-ste...-p22185238 Anyone bought a set? Any thoughts? Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I considered them when I got mine but they did not have the black ones in stock (and needed to do it before brexit)
So I have some generic fire and ice ones now Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

Do like them Simon, but they're double everything else. £350 can buy a lot of other kit. Or beer. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Are yours generic as in OE or AM? If so, where from. All the AM stuff I can find either is a lot more pricey or too cheap (good) to be true and I wonder if they're my old steps. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Forgot to say the ones in the link are also zinc coated/powder coated and they are the only other ones I could find, just bought the Masai NAS step, that looks good and should be fitted at the weekend

Got a friendly fabricator nearby? Considering I had a custom rear cross member fabricated and welded onto the chassis for the same price Ed
