Came home after a longer drive without any problems, car parked outside for 3 hours, tried to put it into the Garage for th night, suddenly won't turn over.
Ignition seems fine, all the right lights come on and I can hear the fuel pump. But when I try to start: 'nothing'. Not even the clicking of the relays! Checked the fuses with a multimeter and they all seem fine. Checked contacts of the relays, and switched the yellow ones with the one from the light (main beam) which is easy to verify. Update: worth mentioning, lights stay on when I try to start. Also, with the hood open, I believe I can hear the solenoid clicking. I guess starter engine is likely culprit? Any idea what else it could be? Thanks in advanced, Christian |

I closed the bonnet and made sure the alarm was happy when I locked it.
Will leave it like that over night and try again tomorrow. Wouldn't be the first time the Landy fixed itself over night, tough, the last time that was water related and today it was bone dry. p.s. I also wonder if I should try to jump start it, just in case it is the battery (I only measured 11.88V with the ignition on). But given the lights don't go out when I start, I doubt it is the battery. Probably a bit low because I was trying to start and measure a couple of times. |

Check that you getting 12v from ignition switch to the starter relay coil ( 86 ) , the ground for starter relay coil ( 85 ) control from AS10 immobilisation unit only when un-immobilisation

I've been in the same situation before, it turned out to be the small wire on the starter motor which connects via a spade connector. Crawl under the car and locate the starter, the small wire connector just needed a wiggle to make the connection again assuming that is the problem.

Thanks for all the useful suggestions.
Will have a look at starter hunting for the wire tomorrow. |
