2014 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 HT Fuji White

We've got a wall mounted air conditioning unit in our gym. It's been in there for over six years, is used most weekdays and so far we've been very pleased with it. It's this one:

It heats as well as cooling and by gum I'm glad we got it. When you get off the rowing machine, it's marvellous! I have no idea about its 'environmental impact'.

It's worth noting that even though the firm imply you can fit it yourself, although you can put most of the big bits on the wall, you'll still need someone with the right purging kit (and the knowledge) to finish it for you. I think we paid a local firm £200 to do this.

Not sure if things have changed in the last couple of years but at one point battery storage installed inside a domestic property (like the Tesla Power Walls) were nigh on impossible to insure.

I was chatting to an installer who said they were having to mount them outside in concrete bunkers.

I’m sure things will have to change or have changed because electrical storage from renewables is the way it is going. Just worth checking before you install.

It’s no different to having a Tesla parked in your garage is it?

Personally, heat pump with heating and cooling is the way I would go. I hate those summer nights when you can’t sleep as it’s too humid. Me and the wife always swear on those nights we are going to stick AC in at least the bedroom. But we haven’t

It is true modern builds are well insulated but where there are large amounts of glass, the heat gains from solar gain will necessitate the use of AC to stop the building over heating. Also modern Split AC has no Legionella risk. It is no different to a domestic fridge and we have invited them into our houses without any known health issues since the 1950’s 👍
