Door Lock Button
Is there a way to remove the door lock button/slider without breaking it?
I want to remove the door card on my 1996 90 and I cannot see a way to remove this without it snapping.

I have had the door cards off a few times over the years and always broke the lock switches.
There must be a better way surely?

you need a thin wide tool which is, if possible, as wide as the bottom edge of the lock surround. You need to insert the tool at the bottom of the surround (between the surround and door card) and give it a sharp tap upwards. You might still end up breaking the bit that screws onto the door behind though as the cheap aftermarket ones tend to be more brittle, especially in the cold temperatures at this time of year.

Hope that helps,

try using a small piece of wood at the bottom of the slider and tap the wood gently upwards with a small hammer, Jeff

Brilliant, thanks guys.

I'll give that a go. You're right about the aftermarket ones being brittle, I may try to locate some genuine Landrover ones and see if they fare better. 300tdi 90 1996.

They slide vertically up. They can be hard sometimes to push up, but doable.
When re fitting you need to be careful that the back side of it slots in, as well as the 2 little pins that clip at the bottom. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Just use a small piece of wood under the slider and tap the wood with a small hammer or similar until it slides up. Jeff
