Does someone have the part numbers for the heated seat switches themselves AND the connectors that fit them??

For a 09 110

Thanks for any help.

Does this look right?? http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-YUG102430

Does it matter if it is "left" or "right"??

Can't find connector for this???

For your 09MY Puma Defender, the switches are the same for both RH and LH sides -

Heated Seat Switch - YUF500150LNF - uses the Black connector and costs £8.50

The Black connector is available on eBay -

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Connectors

As well as from Martin's shop - http://www.disco3.co.uk/shop/5-way-defende...3-p71.html

For a post-2002 TD5 Defender (and a Discovery II)

The switches are -

Heated Seat Switch LH - YUG102430

Heated Seat Switch RH - YUG102440

Electrically they are the same. The differences between them (apart from the price), is the keyway on the switch body (two moulded lines on the back end of the switch body, see pics above) and the colour of the connector they use -

YUG102430 - uses Green connector

YUG102440 - uses Black connector

WOW!! Thanks Paul and everyone. Hope I can help in the future like you've helped me.

The connector kit you spec seems out of stock but the ZZPLUG02 is in stock (rear wiper connector) but may fit like the black one with some trimming.

Can you confirm that Paul.

Also, any recommendations on aftermarket heaters!?!?!??!? Are these easy to slip under the Puma seat covers??

I will likely use relays in the underseat box.

I guess there are a few options.

About £50- Ebay some heaters and get/ do all the wiring yourself.

About £80- Exmoor trim seat heater kit. Comes with all pads and wiring for 2 seats (has aftermarket switches so will need to buy the LR items.
http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/catalogue/deta...l?sef=hcfp

About £1500- Buy some aftermarket seats (Exmoor trim/ Sheel mann) with built in heaters and then just wire them up.

Hope this is of some use.

Thanks for the link.

Seems like that's the best compromise.

I'll try to post a picture guide if I ever finish it.

Yes, the White connector ZZPLUG02 can be trimmed of its keyways and made to fit any switch.

The Exmoor Kit is a Waeco Kit, which can also be bought on eBay -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WAECO-HEATED-SEA...0722201375

As this kit uses seat heaters with a High and Low heat setting, it is not directly compatible with the Defender Heated Seat switches Sad

To use the Waeco Kit as designed, you would have to use the switches supplied with the kit -

Looking at the Waeco installation instructions -

http://www.waeco.co.uk/docs/Ins_msh-50_eb_10s_02.pdf

The wiring diagram E2 on Page 6 shows each switch having a live and earth input and four output wires.

So I'm guessing that the Waeco switches are double-pole changeover switches and that they achieve the High and Low heat settings by switching the squab and cushion heaters either in series or parallel.

You could determine which of the heat settings was most suitable for your climate and wire the heaters permanently in this configuration and use the Land Rover switches to switch them on or off.

.

Just take all the earths to either chassis/ body/ battery neg.

Here is an idea.

Wire through LR switch to turn on/off.... then put the 2 position switch on the seat box so you can then change heating setting if need be?

I was going to suggest that, but the Waeco switches have a centre 'Off' so, ideally, would need to be replaced with On/On changeover switches.

Well done Waeco for scuppering that idea without buying more parts.

How about...... re-manufacturing the LR switch so it has 2 settings?...... Can you guess I am out of good ideas, lol.

The Land Rover On/Off switches can be modified to changeover switches - I've done it Smile

But it would be impossible to modify them to be Off/On/On or On/Off/On switches.

I'm still playing around with Defender/Discovery II Electric Window switches to try and turn them into On/Off/On switches, but their design is making that quite difficult Sad

because i want to put the original switches.
the key issue for me is ,if the big scale (2) of waeco is tolerated by ours backs Laughing or we have to make on/off continually www.newfoundland.gr

Sorry to drag this back up again.... but would these type of connectors be suitable to use to connect the seat base to the heated seat wiring? I am just trying to come up with a loom that's all and wondered if these could handle the load as the autosparks site doesn't have any info on this........

The factory connectors (Tyco MQS) are rated for 7.5A, the ones you've linked to (Tyco Econoseal III 070) are rated for 10A, so they should be OK.

Thanks Paul!

I am also designing a loom for my front heated screen (its the two connection type). I am going to use a timer relay but I need a heavy switching relay to handle the loads. What size would you recommend? 70A?

This the timer relay I have in mind:

http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_74205.html

I am going to switch the relay through one of the post 2002 defender switches.

Rob
