Sorry for your loss.

Sounds some amazing vehicles. Is it not worth speaking to local auctioneer/land agent to do a proper dispersal sale? James

At this moment I am not permitted to sell higher value items. I need to wait for probate, once this is granted then I could get it all auctioned off. Expected to take about 6 months for probate under the current circumstances.
In the meantime I can make a start on the lower value items.

My brother had a 2 bedroom bungalow and 4 outbuildings, and 6 acres of land.
The farmy type stuff was just to tend his land so these were rarely used.
Of the 4 outbuildings, 2 were for cars, one for farmy stuff and parts 1 for tools and bits.
He also had a garage attached to the house for his daily car, a shed for guttering and insulation and a wood store.
The house was pretty full as well. I have cleared about 40 or 50 boxes of paperwork, car bits and books. Probably still got that many to go. I haven’t yet looked in the loft, but I bet it isn’t empty. I won’t go into details but the paperwork goes back 60 plus years.

There are more papers that I still need to find, so I can’t just junk everything, it needs to be looked at. Deeds for instance or who may have them. And of course he doesn’t appear to have any system. Some boxes have writing on them but it rarely corresponds to the contents.

Yes I could auction it all off but, it will most likely go to someone to be resold.

I thought first chance can be had on here, a few people here may actually want it for themselves?
I don’t expect to put anything on ebay as I want a reliable sale to occur and will lower the price to get that. I don’t fancy wasted journeys.

Just a bit more background info for you....
Anything sold 40% of the proceeds will go straight in tax. The remainder I get 1/5th of. So if it gets scrapped or sold for a grand, makes very little difference to me personally (£120).
The drive there is about 90 miles and takes 2.5 hours +/-, same for the return. So a day and £40 in fuel.
Not worth it is it???

But unfortunately it is very hard for me to scrap something old/historical/collectable/useful/interesting.
I am another nutcase just having 9 cars and 3 motorbikes, plus far too many parts tools etc etc.

So the ideal process for me is to get a few things cleared out when I have to go to his house. For finding papers, checking the house, valuations and other must visits to get everything sold.

Once probate is granted then anything left, will be scrapped or had by a clearance company to get the house sold.
Except of course the 2010 one owner Land Rover Defender with 11000 miles and the 1981 Morgan one owner with 18000 miles.
Don’t bother messaging about these yet I can’t sell them😁

Again thanks for all the interest and thoughts.

Photos speak a thousand words so I would take as many as you can when you are next there.
I would be interested to see the condition of the Morgan 3 wheeler.
I may be classed as a time waster as I don’t have a need for one and it is intrigue more than anything but it could be a bit of fun for the right money

Good luck With the sales

I would take as many pics as said above if you can. I have a project on the go now, but could be interested in the Jensen depending on condition. At this stage a few pics would be great.

A few photos of the fergie, the unknown tractor, and the plough. All taken many years ago.

Please let me know if you know what the red tractor behind the transit is. Or if you can recognise the plough as a fergie one?

I think you can probably see a pump on the engine of the fergie?

Thanks,
Bob

Red tractor looks like it could be an Ursus, perhaps a 3512.

Fergie is diesel, the injection pump is clearly visible. The plough looks to me to be correct for the Fergie.

Very nice!

Best of luck with dealing with this.

But if all this desirable stuff is in outbuildings behind an empty bungalow, am I wrong to worry that you might arrive one day to find it has all been cleared out for you, by persons unknown, if you leave it there too long unattended?

(What is the view of those who stand to inherit the other four fifths?)

In a similar circumstance, if I was responsible and at a great distance from the site, I think I would get someone local (a Firm of agricultural Auctioneers?) to deal with it, and pay their costs.

Is your time spent and the stress of it, worth that one fifth of the net-of-tax proceeds?

It's your decision, of course.

PS. Can't beat a diesel Fergie!
