Will heads roll at LR? L663 isn’t What Car car of the year
Not even SUV of the year - that’s a Kia Sorrento 1.6T -GDI Hybrid.......... Car of the Year for What Car? Is the new Dacia Sandero 1.o TCe 90.........
The only other LR mentioned this year is the Evoque P300e PHEV, the Defender put up was the 110 P300 that was rated as the best for off-roading. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I suppose it’s got 30 or more awards already, can’t be too greedy. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

With a magazine like WhatCar these days a huge amount of weight is placed on the ‘value’ or affordability of a car. Purchase price, running costs, what’s included vs what costs extra, practicality, tax levels, emission levels, eco credentials, tax rates, resale values etc. A heavy, off-of biased ‘luxury’ SUV will not meet many of those criteria, let alone all of them, despite the many qualities the vehicle has. Whilst it may be ‘fashionable’ from an end-user point of view, it wouldn’t be from a journalistic point of view if you advise on cars for the masses. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Agreed - they're only interested in euroshitboxes and japshitboxes these days... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I can’t see a big 4x4 getting car of the year- if there is a model in the range doing 15mpg when pressed hard it’s not going to happen.

Previous winners include the BMW 735i and the JAG XF, and the Discovery 3 won in 2005...

The World Car of the Year seems to put a different emphasis on what is considered to be a winning formula as SUV's have won for the last four years, namely Jaguar F Pace, Volvo XC60, Jaguar I Pace and Kia Telluride.

If you've not heard of the Kia Telluride then Google it - I think it looks that boxy shape that we Defender owners seem to like. Defender 90XS SW

Yes sorry I meant to say in the current green / electric climate I can’t see a big 4x4 winning car of the year. It wouldn’t chime.
