RAI vs map
I'm considering a full sealed air system (nugget stuff) and wondering whether to include an RAI. My concern is whether this (the RAI/snorkel) would be restrictive to the map on my 2.2 TDCi. Any advice appreciated - fwiw it's very unlikely that I will ever be wading above the side air intake or in dusty climatic conditions

It depends on the RAI you choose. My Nakatanenga RAI is far less restrictive than the standard intake, and probably the least restrictive of any RAI. I seriously doubt that removing it would make any perceptible performance difference.

Short answer. No.

Long answer depends on how mapped, what turbo etc... Instagram @defender_ventures

BAS published quite a bit of research on just this, if you look at their site or google it hopefully you'll fine it. It's on here too somewhere, someone might be kind enough to show links. James

As Blackwolf says, it very much depends on the choice of RAI. I've got the same one as him, Nakatanenga, which does away with the restrictive duct between intake and airbox. Fitting this alone has transformed the way the vehicle drives to the extent that I've pushed the need for a remap way down my list of priorities.

Somebody else on here recently reported similar results when fitting the Nakatanenga induction kit, which does essentially the same thing but without the RAI. Both retain the standard air box. Darren

I have very recently had a BAS remap and mine has a Mantec RAI and Nugetstuff airbox. No issues and drives superb - very noticeable improvement. Rgds.

I have the genuine Land Rover Puma RAI on both my Puma 90 and 300tdi 90. It didn’t make any noticeable difference to the Puma but killed the performance of the 300tdi.

Safari RAI on mine, with the Nugget pipework and the airbox modded and the Twisted remap it came with - lovely!
