I'm very tempted by a 110 but have a wish list of modifications/improvements, that JLR will probably never do.
They include:- Traditional split rear doors to replace the side hung. This would, of course, mean an alternative mounting for the spare wheel. If possible, and I accept probably not, wider access to the rear Seats which really fold flat on the 7 seater. Engine options to include full EV & H2 fuel cell. I could go on; but what would be on your wish list? NJSS 2016 Discovery 4 Landmark 2011 Mercedes Benz SL350 (R230) 1973 MG B GT V8 - 3.9L John Eales engine, 5 speed R380 gearbox, since 1975. 1959 MGA roadster - 1.9L Peter Burgess Engine - 5 speed gearbox Past LRs - Multiple FFRs, Discos & a Series I - some petrol, some diesel, none Electric yet. I'm with you on the clamshell tailgate doors having had them for the last 15 years (spare can go back on the bonnet )
But if not, an opening window in the tailgate door (like the Freelander 1) to allow for overlength items to be still carried in the rear (rather than going up on the rack or bars) Also, built-in in fused/switched exterior power for accessories/lights available through dedicated ports (rubber bunged/sealed as-delivered from factory) to the roof and engine bay. On a serious note I’d add...
- 18” wheels available across the engine range - EU/UK approved 2 inch receiver hitch tow assembly That’s about it! (Though maybe I’m biased as I’m buying one!) Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Ha indeed! Suppose LR probably market the new ones as “theft deterrent” curry hooks then Cheers, David

Derek if you eventually get off the fence and order one, I'll personally design and 3D print you a curry hook which will fit onto the top of the glovebox door (I think that would be the best place) Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Air suspension and a decent engine option in the 90 Hard Top. And maybe some County stripes.

A less bendy dipstick for the engine oil.........
On the curry hook topic, in the tailgate plastic surround there is a fold down curry type hook like the D2 one on each side of the door frame trim - Circled here on the right. I have a solution for DSL’s dilemma of not being able to reach the prawn crackers in transit too....... if you spec the centre console interior there is a huge oblong cut out in it just below the gear shifter that a takeaway carrier bag will fit into with the crackers bag on the top......... Click image to enlarge The hooks shown in the photo earlier in the thread is of the hooks that the roll up boot cover net thing hooks onto The DSL Curry Hole? Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
