United Kingdom 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Santorini Black
33" Tyres for 18" Rims
So, now that my 90's build is fully underway I am starting to plan for a "phase 2" of mods - obviously Whistle

I'm tempted by the idea of swapping from 16" rims to 18". Partly for aesthetics but also so I could benefit from a brake upgrade.

My problem is that I want 18" rims and 33" tyres. There are enough offerings in the MT variety, but fairly few when it comes to AT or winter. I would be more than happy with MTs for use here in the UK, but would need to be able to get some 3 peaked mountain marked tyres for going on trips to the Alps and Scandinavia.

I currently run Cooper STT PROs in a 285/75R16 flavour. You can at least get the BFG KO2 in this size, which have the 3 peaked mountain.

Does anyone know of a 33" tyre, to suit an 18" rim, that comes with the 3 peaked mountain marking? I'm struggling to find one . . . Charlie

There was some stuff from one of the US based conversion specialists about putting 33" tyres on 18" rims on the new Defenders over in the US, would be worth looking into that to see what tyre options they were using. ---
