Thanks, it has tow bar electrics but I've never used them. Will try and trace the cable going through the bulkhead.

Found the fitting instructions for an aftermarket kit, which contains a voltage sensing relay and the twin fuse holder just below middle left of your photo:
https://www.pfjones.co.uk/pfjoneswiringkit..._01-99.pdf The ring terminal with white wires is the ground for the tow electrics, and should be fitted to the battery negative terminal according to instruction step 11. However the Defender negative terminal clamp isn't designed for to add ring terminals to, although yours has one in place (for a charger socket?). The genuine LR electrics kit as the ground ring terminal attached to the chassis, see step 32: https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...20TDCi.pdf 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Amazing, Thank you. I will check it out tomorrow but that looks like the answer. I would have guessed it should be grounded but wanted to make sure I knew what it was. I added a battery sensor to the battery today so will figure out how to connect it.
