Do I need a 2nd battery to power spot lights
Hi.

I want to install a couple of spot lights on the roof rack, one on front and one on the back.

to be used when camping.

should I install a second battery for this and if so where is the best place to locate it? Defender D250 HSE

You don't need a second battery but it does depend on how you plan to use them. If, for example, you intend to have them on for long periods when the engine isn't running to light up your camp site then you risk draining the battery. In that case, a second one is a great idea. I've done exactly the same for that purpose.

The traditional place for a second battery is under the passenger seat alongside the main one. It's pretty tight and the exact configuration will depend on which combination of batteries you go for. There are lots of threads about second or dual battery set ups on the forum and the search function is your friend. To get you started though, here's a link to what I've installed:

If you opt for an LED based lamp (and for camping a flood beam is likely to be more useful than a spot beam) you should find that they have a relatively low current draw and can be used for quite a while without problem.

Hmm, there are lots of ways to do a dual battery system but, relatively speaking, mine is not the most complicated. Darren
