2.2 tdci alternator : is it a conventional or a smart one
I'm asking because the alternator type influences the charging strategy for à service batt

> charge a service battery from a conventional alternator (constant charging voltage)
-> charge a service battery from a smart alternator (with variable charging voltage)

Seems a bit tricky - regulator is linked with ECU by a LIN BUS communicating at least its air intake temp

Regular, the ecu acts as smart bit. Changed mine a couple months ago
