Power Supply for Engel fridge
My dog is allergic to kibble so I feed him raw meat. This usually comes in frozen form

So for camping etc. I got an Engel fridge so his food stays frozen till I need to defrost it.

I keep the fridge on in the house with the dog food in it, using an Engel branded far-east AC/DC converter

Today this power brick died. Sadly just a couple of months after the 12 month anniversary.

Questions: Any other alternatives other than just buying another power brick ( the Engel one is £50 plus delivery)
I am about to receive a bench power supply for radio electronics which I was thinking of using. The brick is rated as 13.8V DC 10Amps

My bench power supply can be set to output 13.8V DC and is rated for continuous supply at 25Amps so should do the job but wondering if anyone else has done this. (It also has a useful cigar lighter style connector rated at 10A)

Funny, I was only thinking of the same thing for he same reasons last week.

Found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RoyPow-Adapter-Ci...B019H2EQWY

It'd work. The only thing I would suggest is converting from standard cigarette plugs/sockets to the Hella Din version, much better connection.

With a name like RoyPow I suspect that one is as robust as the Engle provided one - i.e. not very.

Good find, but I am looking to get a better quality power supply.

Edit: Actually looking at the ones it is compared to by Amazon, it is twice the price - may not speak to quality.

The power brick I have is actually 13.8V so would need to get one with the higher voltage

(sorry, can't help; I'm just surprised there are Engel fridges without both 12V and 110V/240V input; what model is it? just out of interest)

The Engel only takes a 12V input. The power supply coverts 240v/110v AC to 12v DC so I can run the fridge in the house when I am not travelling.

Anyway, problem solved as I got one of these:

I also have a similar power supply with a digital volt and amp meter and at 13.8VDC, the fridge is quite frugal and only draws 2.8Amp on startup and then around 2Amps to maintain temps, with long periods of zero Amps
