I can echo this
![]() Some UK-to-UK carriers are OK but many are just refusing to collect this week. Nothing is moving into or out of the UK. Royal Mail is in a mess - it's busy anyway at this time of year anyway but the backlog now must be immense. Special Delivery is taking 2-3 days not next day 1st Class is taking a week or more. Air Mail 2 weeks If you go on Royal Mail's web site you can't buy Air Mail services at the moment ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Royal Mail are poor at the best of times.
A lot of the issue is many people have left it too close to Christmas to buy things. There are many reasons for that, but doesn’t help one iota. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Our local Postman (who is a brilliant Guy) said that they have been super busy since the first lock down (although the management keep telling them they are not making any money!). A business which is designed to mainly deliver letters having to cope with an increasing proportion of parcels. If the Post Office management didn't see that coming, I think everyone else did
![]() I noticed that Amazon have started using the Royal Main again this Christmas. I presume because their own carriers can't cope? Don't be too hard on the carriers. You can't just materialise vans, trucks, drivers, distribution centres out of thin air just because the world has found online shopping more convenient and safer than going into town. I try and give them all a distanced smile and a happy greeting at the door step - even if the delivery is late. I know the delivery drivers do get grief from some people. |

Absolutely ![]() ![]() "Hell! It's December 22nd and I haven't got her a present yet" In that case don't panic. The 24 Hour Shell Service station will in that case be your friend ![]() |

The only thing the missus asked for was a chocolate orange.
I couldn’t find one, so she added one to our weekly shop.... I ate it. I felt guilty and sent a minion out to get me one today at work. I ate that too. |

It's the thought that counts.
My problem is that I never think. Apparently. WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

Strange, here’s my experience.
I ordered an item from super tweaks on December 12th no show up until yesterday lunchtime, so I emailed them, they replied within the hour and said we will send you another one out before close of play tonight and send you a FedEx tracking number in the morning, which they duly did , quick login and it says your parcel will be delivered before 18.00hrs today and it did better than that and was delivered in Cornwall before 14.30hrs today. I think the whole carrier thing is very dependant on your location and how good your local depot is.
Our DPD deliveries are spot on but I have heard people on here moan about them. Same with Hermes. Our Hermes deliveries are carried out by a really reliable delivery lady although many seem to hate Hermes. Parcel Force driver is fantastic but each time, the email and delivery slot is always consistently wrong ![]() When you consider the quantities and variation in size and weight of goods these big companies are dealing with, it’s a miracle anything ever turns up. |

Rashers I have to agree with you, we’ve a really good service from all the courier/delivery services in this rural spot and Royal Mail has been great too, even brilliant, at not only delivering but also collecting stuff from most of my very elderly neighbours who cannot get to our thrice weekly mobile Post Office van. On Monday evening I ordered stuff from Amazon via a non-Prime seller with an estimated delivery by carrier/ courier of tomorrow ( 23rd) it arrived late yesterday afternoon two days ahead of schedule and less than 24 hours after ordering via DPD.
Best service so far was I ordered a new TV online at a the local Sony Centre on Monday afternoon, got a phone call within 20 minutes to ask if I would be in “this afternoon at 5” as their “van” was about to leave and if I am at home they would deliver it by 5pm. On the dot at 5pm an Audi eTron on a private plate pulled up outside the house, guy in a business suit gets out and opens the boot and brings my new TV into the house- MD of the Sony Centre was on his way home to a village further down the road from me and was delivering 2 other orders on his way home from work! So I have a nice new Sony 48” OLED screen TV to watch the crap the BBC is putting out over the festive season! No charge for delivery and the 5.5m of co-ax cable I needed was free too. My immediate next door neighbour is a vet who works from home and gets a schedule delivery every day at 11am and a collection again at 5pm for work related reports - the delivery driver has been phoning the neighbour if he is behind schedule asking if the vet would meet him somewhere like a lay-by or cafe to collect the dr.I very if he can’t make the scheduled time. The local Amazon driver keeps me up to date with where all the New Defenders are appearing on his run and the progress of his own order for a D250 110! He runs a 2015 Puma 110 at present...... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
