Delivery delays
Hi all

Is anyone else getting continuing delays in delivery despite confirmation that their car was built some weeks ago?

My order was supposed to be at the retailer (Inchcape Southampton - now sold to Hendy!) mid November.
The salesman sent me a copy of the screenshot showing that the car was built some time ago and ready for dispatch.
This then moved to December and then yesterday after chasing I was told that it will not now arrive with them until sometime in January.

I know about the port delays in the past weeks (not yesterday's Dover problem) but I cannot see what real excuse JLR has for taking two months to deliver a car from the factory to the UK.

He says they have nobody they can actually talk to at JLR and have to rely on email - which is ridiculous.

I'm now waiting for noises about reduced PX value, import taxes etc.

Cheers, Nick

Not as of the 8th Dec no, unfortunately.
Showing as built on 5th November, so absolutely no excuse for not being here yet really.

Perhaps it is still waiting at the factory for some parts for one of the options you have selected, I know some orders are now being held by Land Rover and not put into build due to supply problems with certain bits.

Average time from build date to arriving at the dealer in the UK seems to be about four weeks from what I read.

Mine was ordered end of October, it’s a 110 Dynamic-x HSE 300D. I was given mid Jan as delivery. I was contacted shortly after order to tell me the Comfort and Convenience pack was not available due to parts shortage, and asked if I wanted to amend my order by deleting it, or wait. I chose to delete it.

I got an email from LR saying my car was built and on its way to the dealer on 11th December. Today I spoke to my dealer and he confirmed it was in the UK awaiting delivery to dealer. He said it’s 50/50 if I get a call to collect between Christmas and New year. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Hmm..the event log they sent me a copy of shows the car was built on the 5th November, so based on your experiences it should have been in the UK for some time by now.

Is there any way of contacting JLR themselves to find out? All seems very strange.

I got the email on the same day. Dealer phoned last weekend to say it was in the country and gave me the same timescale as above, with the aim of handover between Xmas and new year. The original delivery due date to the dealer is this week sometime.

I don’t think there’s any way of getting more info other than by pestering your dealer.

I placed my order 17th November with dealer - took him 8 days to tell me the same - eventually got a revised order (missing the Comfort pack) signed on 25th November.

Not heard anything since... from anyone..

I went with 110 D300 HSE (no X Dynamic) but added the eDiff, Wheel Arch Protection, Front Undershield Protection, Off Road Pack (TR2), Solar Windscreen, Black Paint and Silver 20" 5098 wheels..... and a Note that the dealer should add the convenience pack.. if possible before build date becomes firm.

Little disappointed reading above that I heard NOTHING from the dealer.

Will be interested in your reviews and feedback on the car - as I could not find the HSE anywhere to look at or obviously a 3.0 D300 to drive... nor seen any drive reports.

Keep us informed.

THANKS

Yes I’m taking a leap of faith! It’s certainly costly and has a tough act to follow, leaving a D4 HSE Lux that has served me for 8 years.

Mine has wheel arch protection, removable tow bar, bonnet graphic, gloss black wheels, front and back classic mud flaps, cross bars and some interior luxury mats.

One thing I ordered and haven’t seen another yet, is premium paint in Carpathian grey. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Will you get the wheel arch protection painted to match the painted lower panels on the doors?

I did like the different colour front and rear silver on X Dynamic - but prefered the Matt door bottom Trim.

The Tow Eyes and Darker Wheel and Facia would also be nice... but wanted full leather.. which is not possible on X Dynamic.

Wait you update!

THANKS

Your car won’t be delayed due to the port delays as those are only for containerised cargoes coming in not specialised vehicle carrying ships plying between Europe and UK as cars are what is termed unaccompanied freight (no HGV and Trailer is required to get them on and off the ship, they drive on and off under their own power) The main vehicle import ports for the U.K. are Sheerness, Killigholme, Royal Portbury Dock, Southampton Vehicle Terminal (also the main export terminal) and a couple of terminals on the lower Thames. Most of the terminals also are not in Tier 4 COVID lockdown areas.
It will be something at Nitra that is causing the delay - parts that are in short supply but don’t stop the car being built and can be easily retrofitted. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Simon, I’m not sure what changes, if any, I’ll make. I need to see it first. The only thing to be done after delivery to me is I am getting ceramic protection coating applied by a local specialist. 1/2 the price of Land Rover dealer quote!

However, it sounds like I’ll be needing some powerful reverse lights! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

🤔 Simon you have me thinking now as to how wise it was to order wheel arch protection! So much so, I have just asked the dealer if if I can delete it at this late stage!

I personally like gloss black finishers, and have just asked myself if grained black wheel arches would sit well with gloss black door bottoms!

Does the XDynamic have gloss black wheel arch finishers as standard? Never seen one in the flesh! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV
