Bit of a refresh
My son and I bought a 3.9 V8 Ninety in mechanically fairly sound condition but with ropey electrics, fairly poor cosmetics and a V8 in a sorry state of tune:

Lovely previous owner with a very honest description. Good news included a galvanised chassis, rear disc brake conversion and new suspension. We’ve been dismantling...

Work to do:

Weld and repair doors
Replace dashboard
Fit new rear door
Re-wire most of the electrics
Re-paint
Fit new lights
Re-trim seats
Fit headlining
Install soundproofing

Probably more. Wish us luck!

It’s not the first time I’ve done this... I used to have a V8 Ninety made from a n/a diesel Ninety and an RR Classic.

It had been sitting for a while before I took this pic for eBay, hence the streaks in the paint. Wish I hadn’t sold it.

Pleased to confirm that my engineering standards have improved since that was taken 16 years ago. Ahem.

There’s also a shoddy 110 to sort out. Glutton for punishment?

Exactly as-is. We just took the roof off for easy access for rust removal and painting. He’s only a teenager so will have to wait until he has some money for proper mods!

A longer answer to your fairly abrupt question... the 90 (Ninety if we’re being picky) has been a slow burn but given that my son is 13, we’ve got almost 4 years to go so I’m ok with that. Dashboard has been re-done, with rust removal, filler and re-covering with vinyl.

We’ve put in a Mud console and have replaced the main dash pod housing and instrument panel.

Ambition is to have it back on the road in a year or so. I tried to start it at the weekend and nothing doing (other than turning over) so we need to check the spark etc.

Am I missing something? It has a 3.9 V8. Did you read the post or are you just writing random stuff?

FFS

At least it’s back to school soon. Can I suggest you don’t do a complicated subject when you go into sixth form?

And no - the steering wheel is pretty low on the list of priorities.

Let's get this thread back on track...

Looks like a great project, I hope your Son realises he's fortunate to have an encouraging Dad. At 17 I brought home a slightly ropey Mk 1 Escort Mexico and got nothing but grief Laughing

You've got a great base for an awesome truck, I'm sure there'll be a few who'll appreciate that a v8 90 as a first car is nothing but a winner.

Watching with interest.
