Puma 2.4 too much blow by?
Hi all. I have a 2010 110 2.4 and new to the forum

I purchased it in July this year with 110 000kms and I have had a constant oil leak from the fuel pump cover (circular blanking plate on the front of the timing chain cover)

It weeps from the bottom, not a great amount but it does make its way down to the sump and drips on the passenger side chassis rail and front axle.

I have had the cover and seal removed/replaced and the timing chain cover replaced with new. It’s
Still leaking. The more I’m reading on here it could be excessive blow by. Potentially symptoms of fuel injector seals or worn piston rings. Has anyone had this problem? And was it as easy solve? I’m hoping it’s
Not the rings.

It’s become quite a popular topic of conversation lately! Pretty simple to resolve in my experience but will reoccur unless you “cut” the injector seats to remove carbon. I did mine four times over the last couple of years and only succeeded on the final attempt after buying a cheap injector seat cutter to clean up the seats.

The copper washers are important also. So a very interesting feature on Britannica Restorations YouTube channel. I was always lead to believe that the difference in these was the thickness etc. But it would appear that the cheaper ones are copper coated mild steel! As steel does not compress/form as well as copper they don't seal properly or only in the short term. Simply check them with a magnet. If you can pick them up with a magnet they aren't any good. Let some others weigh in on the blow by issue though. Just to be sure you are barking up the right tree.

Ok I had the seats done, replaced all washers and the exhaust coming from the oil cap has dropped dramatically. So it’s definitely made a difference.

I cleaned down the engine and gave it a good drive for 40km
Or so and held it in boost where possible to push the seals a bit. After this there
Is still a minor leak coming from the fuel pump cover. No where near what it was but wondering if the seal is no good as it had leaked from there before.
