Hello!!! I have a late 99' Defender 110 Td5 and in need of a new gearbox. Searching the market, I've found two types of 380 gearboxes available, one for Suffix L gearboxes and Suffix J.
The original gearbox did not come with a serial number on it, it is just not there, not wore out, not erased...just blanked. (you can see that in the picture) the box does not have an oil cooler. Which gearbox should I get? I've already asked several sellers, such as Ashcrofts or Bearmach, but they havent been able to point me in the right proper direction. I live in southern Chile, there is no Land Rover dealer here. HELP!!! [/img] |

The suffix J is correct for the year of your Defender but the suffix L is essentially an improved version (bearings, gears, etc.) and should fit anyway., Darren

The remaining question is....should I get the suffix L gearbox then?
Would I have fitting problems? Thanks in advance ! |
