It is pretty common in “modern” cars to flash the hazards automatically under heavy breaking. Wasn’t aware if it in a defender thigh but it might be the case that there is a pressure switch being triggered somewhere.

Never seen any pressure switch on the brake lines. Defenders are still old design. The brake light switch is under the dash, there is a plastic cover protruding where the fuse box / obd port is located.
Unsure if the ones with ABS have anything though. Does the hazard or the indicators trigger anything else? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

There is no evidence on anything like this on any of the electrical diagrams for the vehicle, and the only thing I can think of is that it is a feature (probably unintentional) of the alarm system. There is no way that anything connected with the brakes could activate the normal hazard flasher circuitry, but a sudden shock could activate the alarm. However the alarm should not have been activatable (if such a word exists) with the engine running, so something unexpected has happened. Very bizarre, and probably unplanned.

That’s a very informative link DorsetSmith. I never knew their was an inertia switch on the 10AS alarm module for vehicles with central locking. |

Ok, well symptons suggest its part of the alarm then ready attached link. Guess it picked up a large inertia shock..
Doors wouldn't lock on fob at that point either. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |
