Ireland 2008 Defender 130 Puma 2.4 HCPU Alaska White
Two 2020 Defenders in Euro Auctions Leeds
Evening All,

Stumbled across these two defenders in Euro Auctions, https://euroauctions.com/en/equipment-search/Leeds/vehicles

I'm in the market for a new Defender and as much as I'd like to buy a 2021 to my own spec it's difficult to ignore the vlaue that might be on the horizon if potentially dealers are already putting new vehicles in auction before the new model is released. 130 TDCI High Capacity Pick up
D250 SE HT 110
Hybrid LWT on RR chassis, 3.5 v8

Wow!

The 2nd one has a relatively early VIN ~ SALEA7AN5L2009087 but the 1st one listed as unused SALEA7AN7L2028966 looks like it can't be long off the production line. Shocked

Odd indeed. I wonder whether the (brief) owners just really didn't like them, or something?

I think the step change in engine choice has resulted in a number of 2020 cars not sold.

The dealers have quite a few, and no doubt the lease companies who pre ordered are also carrying stock, and it’s possibly those that are sending to auction? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

See I’m open to a 2020 car though it’s only 110s but dealer can’t be too desperate to sell them as there’s no big discounts available.

This is apparently up for auction at Bonhams

I think the dealers are waiting Land Rover to put on the sale initiative or rebate or low rate finance to help.... because otherwise if one dealer does it... he is just cutting his margin... or has to register as used... and again cutting his margin...

You look how many are for sale on autotrader...

There is 566 Used (2020 on) and 327 New...

That is a lot of high price metal.

An Audi Q5 - 292 used (2020 on) and 163 New.

Plus the people who just bought the D200 or D240 - will take a hit in depreciation...

NOT GOOD FOR ANYONE.

I would be quite open to buying one too, if only they accepted that people are not paying the retail price. This would do me, but not at £46K.

What do you think it is worth taking into account the new engine and the current economic climate?

£39,999......... tax buster, LR claim it’s not a luxury car, so why should it be priced and taxed as one? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Perhaps once 21MY hits the showrooms there maybe a bit more off the 20MY.

To be honest though if my dealer came down from £49k to £46k I’d be tempted, maybe £45k

The magical figure of £39,999. In 2001 my P38 Bordeaux was kitted out (or rather not kitted out) to fit under the £40k figure and avoid the higher tax level. Plus ca change...
