Have you got a towbar fitted?
Does it sound like the alarm you get when indicating to remind you that you have a trailer? If so it could be a dodgy install of the wiring for the towbar. |

THe things I'd be ticking off are:
If you have a trailer socket check it for a short Check all the bulbs for corrosion Reseat the relay Dash light staying on indicates a non-functional bulb, as its intermittent I'd also be suspecting a short somewhere or a dodgy contact being made. Thanks for the pointers - I have a tow socket and I did a bit of wading a few weeks back which may have coincided with the problem - on initial inspection it is looking a bit wet and corroded, so I'll start there...
