I assume this is one of the reasons LR is a bit over-cautious with this
I agree on the inconvenience this causes during low speed maneuvering, backing up trailers etc. 110 SE D200 MY21 Tasman blue Discovery 3 V8 HSE MY06 Discovery 1 V8 ES MY97 RRC 2-door V8 MY83 |

With my Discovery Sport (from 2015) I never had an issue with the dialing gear. If I left it in drive mode and opened the door an alarmsound was issued. No problem at all.
I really miss it on my new Defender I'm not yet used to the gear stick (after 200 km ) 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history) |

You could probably tape the door sensor to fool it into thinking it’s still closed, but that’ll stop it working as desired such as interior lights too. I’m not sure how the door switch system works on those. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
