Anyone have Frontrunner gullwing windows and a tape measure?
(Big edit here - I posted this initially as a request for pics - Gullwing locker windows plus an internal roll cage. Seems this is a non-existant combo. Maybe there's a clue there, but I'll try again with a simpler question).

Hi guys,

I am interested in getting at least one gullwing locker door on the side of the 110 SW.

However I have a Safety Devices internal roll cage, and do want to hang on to it if I can. Though my car is a '94 Tdi, I have the 'Puma' cage, with the kink in the rear cage hoop to clear the wider rear seats. This means the rear hoop runs pretty close to the window. I didn't buy it as a mistake, it came up on ebay for a decent price, and seemed to make sense at the time.

If necessary I could sell this Puma cage, and get one of the Tdi ones, which is a more likely match, but I'd likely lose ca. £200/300 in the swap, so if I don't have to, then that would be better. The windows are expensive enough as it is.

As I see it the gullwing options are:
Frontrunner - spendy
RoughParts - even more spendy
Explore NL - like the look of these, but Brexit taxes and shipping/handling charges make this a bit unlikely right now
Mobile Storage Sytems
Latitude Overland

I am in touch with Frontrunner directly, and they might yet come back with some specific measurements, but I have a sense that they might just say "Oh, it won't work".

I'd like to take that decision for myself if possible, so I marked up a couple of pics they sent me, highlighting some specific measurements I'd like:

I thought these pics would be zoomable to read the text, but it seems not. Hopefully the arrows would give you the idea, but if you have the windows, and the inclination to measure them, and can't make sense of this, please just ask.

As we say up here, if it fits it could be: "tight as a moosie's lug", or even "half a bawhair" - but I could work with that, as long as it physically fits.

Does anyone have a set of these and a measuring tape reasonably handy? It would be much appreciated. Donald

Afternoon all,

Kind of as I expected I've had a reply from Frontrunner to say that their SA workshop have: "confirmed that the Gullwing windows will unfortunately not fit" - but I haven't been sent the dimensions I was hoping for, so just a wee bump here.

If you have these windows, and a tape measure (or even a ruler! The gaps aren't that big..) I would really appreciate it if someone could take few measurements for me.

As I say, I know it's going to be tight, but I'd like to take the measurements out to my car and take that decision for myself.

Ta Donald

OK... apologies - this is a bit 'stop' & 'start'

Just taken a phone call from a guy near Oxford way who Frontrunner put me in touch with. He's seen my pics, reckons it might fit, and we're going to discuss further... so might have my answer.

Thanks JST for the reply. Donald
