So now we have seen, and in many cases dismissed the new Defender as being the vehicle for us, what comes next?
I'm still pinning my hopes on the MLA, especially now JLR seem to be saying that the "Defender Sport" will be on this platform. Here's a nice article that shows a clear way back for the Defender, to have the multitude of body forms it's always been known for, by becoming a full on BEV: https://cleantechnica.com/2019/12/28/atlis...ric-truck/ Click image to enlarge |

I like that architecture.
Yes, water crossings could be an issue, but surely the battery & motors could be IP68'd? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Still find it weird that my Jag iPace has the same wading depth as a standard old school Defender - 500mm. Can't say I have tested it yet mind |

There's something about those photos which makes me think of granite work-tops and tanning beds! |

To be honest the top picture looks like something my 10 year old Grandson would draw if asked to draw a pick up truck.

Batteries are sealed on vehicles like this. Wading is, I believe, easier to do with a BEV than ICE, as you don't have to worry about air intake or exhaust. |

Not sure the official specs quote a wading depth, but it seems to cope OK with this:
And then these guys did this to a Tesla: |
