Goodyear to buy Cooper Tire

It will be interesting to see if there's any change or rationalisation of the 2 brands following the takeover.
On a positive note, Cooper aren't being bought by a Chinese brand.

I don’t think it’ll be a bad thing for consumers, it’ll give Cooper access to a bigger distribution network and bigger R&D facilities. Incidentally, Cooper own Avon as well as Micky Thompson and Mastercraft.

BF Goodrich are already owned by Michelin and General are owned by Continental, so each of the top tyre companies has credible 4x4 brand in their business now. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
