EGT & boost pressure gauges
Anyone fitted an exhaust gas temperature and boost pressure gauge combination to a td5 defender ?

I see IRB did a kit , anyone fit one ?

This is the one I was after for a long time. I eventually tracked it down to IRB being a distributer in the UK, they were pretty unhelpful, not knowing when they would get them in. I never heard from them again.

Eventually I found the manufacurer in the US. They are:http://www.mcnallyelectronics.com/digital_boost_gauges.htm

I hope this is of some help. I have a late 2006 TD5 110 Defender, which is chipped, that is why I ended up buying one of these, I thought they looked really good and I wanted to keep an eye on my EGT temps.

That was about 8 months ago, It is still sitting on a shelf in my garage, I really must get around to fitting it!! Laughing

I have a VDO turbo boost gauge waiting to go into my TD5.

Useless instructions and a pain to find the right connectors to plumb into the gauge.

The engine end is going to be plumbed into an Allard EGR removal tube that is going to replace the Alive one fitted. The Allard has a take off for the boost gauge already fitted Thumbs Up

Bob. I may be wrong, but I think you can just plumb the boost gauge into the TD5's rubber pipe going between the turbocharger actuator and the inlet pipework. We've only done one and it was a while ago. I think the kit came with a plastic T pipe but we ended up changing it for a metal one.

You certainly can Thumbs Up

However, the VDO kit is useless, it does not include t's etc and has the wrong diameter tube supplied, my advice to anybody would be buy the gauge and source your own fittings.

Somebody gave me the Allard pipe and it has a plumbed in fitting with a barbed take off that will take the 6mm pipe needed to connect to the gauge.

Trying to get info on plumbing one in is like trying to get blood from a stone, especially as some of the gauges have NPT fittings and some have metric Shocked

Mcnallys seem to be the job alright.
They seem to do a kit with thermocouple, gauge and pressure sensor.
Might give one of the a try.

Looks good, I have a mudpod on my Defender dashboard (with nothing in it at the moment) I have the same Mcnally gauge and switches like you have in your photo to go in......

Just need to pull my finger out and get them insatlled now Rolling Eyes

You can also go for the Madman unit, it measures EGT, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Battery levels, Coolant Temp, etc.

The madman kit for the td5 doesn't appear to do boost pressure ?
As far as I can figure out anyway.
Madman looks very good value though.

From what I can see the display/control unit is capable of working with a selection of sender units and you can mix and match. It looks like you can have a pressure input which can either show oil pressure, fuel pressure or boost depending on what you connect it to.

The TD5 kit looks to come as standard with oil pressure but if you wanted to change that for boost pressure I can't see why not.

It's a shame it doesn't support 2 pressure inputs but I suppose an additional oil pressure gauge is cheap enough to add if you have room. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
